Stephen Hawking may belauded as one of the most brilliant people living today, but can he make sense of Zayn Malik’s decision to leave British boy band One Direction? Yes, yes he can.

　　The theoretical physicist and cosmologist spoke at the Sydney Opera House on Saturday night via 3D hologram projection from his actual location at Cambridge University in the U.K.

His projection answered questions from his daughter journalist Lucy Hawking, and physicist Paul Davies, who were physically present, as well as attendees at the opera house. Hawking, who is confined to a wheelchair, also spoke candidly about his battle with ALS.

　　While the acclaimed physicist answered many questions about the future of our planet, one audience member had other concerns. According to BuzzFeed, a questioner asked “What do you think is the cosmological effect of Zayn leaving One Direction and consequently breaking the hearts of millions of teenage girls across the world?”

　　”Finally, a question about something important,” Hawking reportedly responded, before doling out some serious wisdom.

　　”My advice to any heartbroken young girl is to pay close attention to the study of theoretical physics. Because one day there may well be proof of multiple universes,” he said. “It would not be beyond the realms of possibility that somewhere outside of our own universe lies another different universe. And in that universe, Zayn is still in One Direction.”
